Genome skimming for Lysimachia species identification

The genus Lysimachia includes over 180 species and is widely used as herbal medicine in China and elsewhere. Species identification within this genus based on morphological, microscopic, or chemical characters is often challenging. The method of genome skimming, as an extended barcode, has been extensively utilized to enhance standard barcodes into whole plastomes and nrDNA sequences, thereby playing an important role in the species identification of herbal medicine. Genome skimming can be used for successfully recovery standard DNA barcodes, whole plastomes and nrDNA sequences.
