P. pacificus Washington strain genome update

The free-living nematode Pristionchus pacificus is an established model species for comparative studies with Caenorhabditis elegans. One particular strain of P. pacificus PS1843 that was isolated in Washington has been frequently employed for genetic analysis. Recently, we resequenced and assembled the complete PS1843 genome from Illumina short read data. Although the completeness of this genome was comparable to the chromosome-scale genome of the reference strain PS312 from California that was assembled from PacBio reads, the PS1843 genome was still quite fragmented and specific analysis of gene losses often turned out to be inconclusive due to the presence of assembly gaps. Therefore, we decided to resequence the PS1843 using the PacBio platform. The new genome assembly has the accession GCA_964194495.1
