A Self-Determination Theory-informed Deep Work Intervention for Enhancing Focus and Flourishing of University Students
收藏资源简介:
Aim: This study aimed to evaluate an intervention grounded in the principles of DW, integrating components from Self-Determination Theory (SDT) and the PERMA model, to enhance focus, engagement, and well-being among university students. Method: Eight participants were selected for a 6-session intervention program employing a non-concurrent, multiple baseline case series design. Outcome measures were assessed using the Deep and Effortless Concentration Scale (DEC), the PERMA-Profile, the Basic Need Satisfaction Scale (BNS), the Smartphone Distraction Scale (SDS), and the Utrecht Work Engagement Scale. Visual analysis and interrupted time series analysis (ITSA) were done. Result: Findings revealed a statistically significant immediate effect on DW skills (b=20.30, p=.032; τu=.975 (p < 0.001), indicating a marked short-term gain in students’ ability for sustained and undistraction concentration. Furthermore, the overall model for flourishing was significant [R² = .221, F(5, 82) = 4.659, p = .001], suggesting the intervention’s broader influence on students’ well-being.
