Rana [Lithobates] catesbeiana premetamorphic tadpoles retain a molecular memory of thyroid hormone (TH) exposure such that tadpoles injected with TH at a cold nonpermissive temperature do not metamorphose, but rapidly execute the metamorphic program upon shift to a warm permissive temperature. We compared the transcriptomes of TH-exposed R. catesbeiana tadpole tissues under permissive, nonpermissive, or shifted temperature conditions to uncover putative components of the molecular memory in these tissues. Premetamorphic R. catesbeiana tadpoles were injected with TH and placed for 48 h at temperatures permissive (24C), nonpermissive (5C), or shift (48 h nonpermissive then 24 h permissive) for metamorphosis followed by tissue collection. RNA sequencing was achieved by use of the Illumina NovaSeq6000 paired-end platform to generate 2 x 150 base pair reads.
