Where existing cannabis consumers are buying their marijuana in Canada 2021

More than half of all cannabis purchases in Canada were done through legal sources according to survey respondents in 2021. However, around 26 percent of current cannabis users in Canada reported buying from dual sources (both legal and illicit). An additional 12 percent claimed that they exclusively purchase cannabis through illicit channels despite nation-wide legalization. One potential driver for illicit cannabis purchases in Canada could be the lower price in the black market.
