Characterizing heterologous protein burden in Komagataella phaffii

This is a study on the cellular response to burdensome heterologous protein production in Komagataella phaffii cell factories, which produce either the human insulin precursor or Mambalgin-1 peptide at various levels (tuning gene dosage and promoters). The aim of the study is to provide novel insight into the cellular response to heterologous protein production by investigating the transcriptome of K. phaffii cell factories, which can help identify important bottlenecks and point in the direction of the most beneficial mitigation strategies.
