Tracer Data from the 2021 Oden Expedition (VACAO Project)
收藏资源简介:
This dataset compiles hydrographic profiles and transient tracer measurements from the 2021 Oden expedition to the Arctic Ocean, conducted under the Ventilation and Anthropogenic Carbon in the Arctic Ocean (VACAO) project. The transient tracers used in the study are: Ar39: Expressed in pmAr (percent modern Argon). The unit refers to the concentration measured in the sample relative to modern atmospheric levels. Uncertainty bounds are denoted as +1s and -1s and they represent the upper and lower bounds of the asymmetric PDF of abundance. For more detail see Arck et. al in progress C14: Expressed in pmC (percent modern Carbon). The unit expresses the C14 activity of the sample relative to the standard. For more detail see Brinkmann et. al in progress. PANGAEA: https://doi.pangaea.de/10.1594/PANGAEA.994605. SF6 and CFC-12: Raw data for these tracers are not included here, as they are available in a dedicated study of the expedition (Gerke, L. et al., 2024, Journal of Geophysical Research: Oceans 129, e2023JC020608) and a published dataset (GLODAP: https://www.ncei.noaa.gov/data/oceans/ncei/ocads/data/0278647/). Instead, this dataset provides the corrected gas tracer concentrations for saturation anomaly, inferred from noble gases. For detailed methodology and the saturation anomalies themselves, refer to Hubner et al. (revised version submitted). The rest of the CTD (Conductivity, Temperature, Density) data, together with other physico-chemical parameters of the expedition can be found published in PANGAEA. See: https://doi.pangaea.de/10.1594/PANGAEA.951264. We used these tracers to model Transit Time Distributions (TTDs) and estimate anthropogenic carbon. DOI of the study: in progress.
