Practicals for Master 2 Quantum Matter of UGA: proximity effects in Ho layers

We will investigate the magnetic ordering in epitaxial layers of Ho-Lu alloy and Ho/Lu multilayers to characterise the proximity effect of Lu (non-magnetic) on Ho (conical/helical antiferromagnet at low temperature). We will perform X-ray Resonant Magnetic Scattering at the Ho L3 edge (8.071 keV) and look of magnetic satellites around the structural reflections, as they appear in pure Ho. Once found, these satellites will be monitored as a function of temperature.
