QLK Subkorpus Queere Tiere

The sub-corpus "Queere Tiere" is part of the project "QLK - Queerlinguistisches Korpus". This is a one-year pilot project funded by the Equal Opportunities Fund (Universität Hamburg). It serves to create a corpus with queer content as a research resource for students and researchers and is currently being continued by other projects.

The sub-corpus "Queere Tiere" contains texts that thematize "queer" animals in various ways, e.g., animals that exhibit same-sex sexual behaviour or do not fit into a binary sex/gender model. The texts are taken from freely available online sources. These are mainly journalistic and (popular) scientific texts as well as press releases.
