STRUCTURAL-SEMANTIC ANALYSIS OF THE WORDS IN THE SEMANTIC FIELD OF 'MOTHERLAND' IN ENGLISH

This study presents a structural-semantic analysis of words within the semantic field of “Motherland” in English. It examines core and peripheral lexical units, their semantic relations, and connotative, metaphorical, and emotional aspects. Using a corpus-based approach, including literary texts, political speeches, and media articles, the research identifies synonyms, hyponyms, and metaphorical extensions, highlighting how language encodes cultural, historical, and patriotic values. Core terms such as country, homeland, and nation denote territory and citizenship, while peripheral expressions like native soil, land of ancestors, and patriotic home evoke emotional attachment, pride, and loyalty. The analysis reveals the multidimensional nature of the semantic field, showing the interplay between lexical meaning, culture, and national identity. Findings contribute to lexical semantics, translation studies, intercultural communication, and language education, providing a systematic framework for understanding emotionally and culturally charged vocabulary in English.
