Reconstructions based on stable teleconnections

This file contains data and information to create maps for stable correlations. A correlation stability criterion is evaluated in all grid-points of observed land and ocean surface temperature and precipitation global data sets for a calibration period (1961-2022), and the surface anomalies from the regions where the correlation is stable are used as predictors for the corresponding atmospheric circulation patterns. Based on the multiple regression models derived with data from the calibration period, the boreal winter circulation is reconstructed back to the year 1891 and 1602 using observed and paleo-reanalysis data, respectively.  Our reconstructions of Northern Hemisphere circulation are validated against various proxy records as well as reconstructed climate indices.
