Mapping of the effects of dietary xenobiotics on gut microbiome composition remodelling, how this relates to the metabolism of these dietary xenobiotics, and can explain interindividual differences in response to dietary compounds. This experiment was designed to assess how two related dietary xenobiotics, polydatin and resveratrol, remodel a collection of 25 human gut microbiome communities in vitro. Bacterial communities derived from human fecal samples (25 individuals) were incubated with DMSO, resveratrol or polydatin, anaerobically in BBmGAM media. Eggerthella lenta was spiked into select communities. 16S sequencing was performed to map community composition.
