资源简介:
The Ross Orogeny refers to the collision event when East and West Antarctica met, resulting in subduction with associated deformation, crustal thickening, metamorphism and igneous activity. In the Koettlitz Walcott Glacier area, nepheline syenites and associated carbonatites were found. These rocks are characteristically associated with areas where the curst was pulled apart and stretched, not in a subduction zone like the Ross Orogeny. The Panorama Ridge area was investigated with the area geologically mapped to determine the distribution of nepheline syenite and associated rock types and the timing of their emplacement. Representative samples were collected for geochemical and geochronology analysis. All data was used to provide a history of tectonic, metamorphic and magmatic events during the Ross Orogeny.
