8f: clone sequences obtained with 8f/1492r; Sum: clone sequences obtained with 8f/1492r and phylum-specific primers (More details on the primer pairs, see Table S2). The numbers of sequences randomly sampled for calculating gamma statistics (10,000 times) were 30 and 300 for 8f and Sum, respectively.
