Non-native Species in Australia

A compiled list of species regarded as introduced (Darwin Core definition) to Australia and External Territories, being introduced by human agency to areas outside the accepted natural range. The list includes all species identified as introduced including species identified as naturalised within their state of occurrence (a species can be both native and also an environmental weed, for example). The list has been complied from species identified as naturalised in the Australian Plant Name Index; introduced, exotic, naturalised within the Australian Faunal Directory; species identified as introduced or naturalised in State and Territory Atlases or species included as introduced in pest lists. For each species, known areas in which they are introduced are included on a state and territory basis, the source for the identification as introduced, whether the species may be freshwater, terrestrial and marine and a status field indicating whether the introduction is doubtful (principally for APNI records). The Dataset was updated on 14/9/2023 after comparing with the new draft GRIS list. A subset of non-native species were added after a validation of their occurrence in Australia by at least one government agency. All species regarded as doubtful by source have been removed as at 27/11/2023. An addendum including biocontrol agents was added on 16/1/2024. Reloaded with corrected taxonomy 30/05/2024
