Whole genome sequencing of two strains of Paenibacillus amylolyticus

This project aims to sequence the whole genome of two strains of Paenibacillus amylolyticus, S231-2 and S293, respectively. These strains were sampled in an experimental vineyard located near Bordeaux (INRA, Villenave d'Ornon, France) and isolated from 22-year old vines of the cultivar Sauvignon blanc (Vitis vinifera L.) grafted onto the rootstock 101-14 MGt. Selected grapevine plants previously expressed esca-foliar symptoms at least twice, over a period of 4 years (2012-2016). The genome sequencing will provide insights into the genetic basis of the characteristics of these strains and will facilitate further research into their biology and potential applications.
