资源简介:
HALE ALOHA (Hawaii Air-sea Logging Experiment, A Long-Term
Oligotrophic Habitat Assessment) was initially deployed Sunday,
January 12, 1997, funded primarily through the JGOFS-HOT Program.
The Satellite Oceanography Laboratory supplied three components to
this mooring effort. These components were:
Surface meteorological instrumentation
Near-surface current measurements
Near-bottom current measurements
A key component of the physical measurements made by this mooring
is the suite of meteorological instruments maintained by the Satellite
Oceanography Laboratory. This system provides measurements of wind
speed and direction, relative humidity, air temperature, rain
accumulation, solar radiation, and air-water temperature difference.
These data are transferred daily from the mooring at around 11:00 HST,
and are processed two or three times a week. During periods of heavy
seas or other inclement weather, the cellular link is inoperable, causing
delays and some gaps in the near-real time data. As all data is
recorded on-board the mooring, these gaps appear only in the near-real
time return. These near-real-time data are provided mainly to monitor
the health of the mooring and assist scientists during the HOT field
cruises.
Data is also available for the HALE ALOHA Shallow Current Meters.
Two InterOcean S4 current meters were deployed on HALE ALOHA-2, at
depths of 31m and 539m. They were deployed on May 21, 1997 and
recovered on Dec 3,1997. Both instruments recorded data throughout
the deployment, with complete data recovery. Currents are plotted
and are available as text files for the shallow and deep instruments.
HALE ALOHA Deep Mooring data is available online as another source of
data from the Aloha Buoy. An array of Anderaa current meters was
deployed in the vicinity of the HALE ALOHA mooring to measure the
near-bottom currents in the region. The bottom depth at the location
was 4560 m, with current meters located 9.0 m, 19.5 m, and 95m from
the bottom. Data was recovered from the top current meter from May 14
until Nov.19, and from the middle current meter from May 14 until
Dec. 22. No data was recovered from the bottom current meter.
Data from the current meters are plotted and are available as
text files for the top and middle current meters.
