Laotańska kultura polityczna w latach 1945-2021, od buddyzmu do komunizmu i z powrotem

Abstract The Lao political culture in the years 1945-2021, from Buddhism to communism and back The article discusses Communist Revolution in Laos and analyzes its implication from four dimensions: history, society, culture and religion. Post-war history of Laos seems to be the perfect example of how important for every community is a need for cultural continuity. Particular attention in this paper is paid to the role of cultural and political changes that caused that the power in the Buddhist kingdom was taken over by the communist party Pathet Lao. It also discusses the role played by the Sangha during the final stages of the Pathet Lao take-over of political power in 1975, and the effect this had upon the order. Finally, an attempt will be made to assess the state of Buddhism in Laos under the present regime.
