Exploring the World of Fish

Fish is a source of animal-based nutrition rich in protein, omega-3, and other essential nutrients that play a vital role in supporting children's growth and development. However, awareness among children aged 6–12 regarding the importance of fish consumption remains low. According to data from the Ministry of Marine Affairs and Fisheries, the fish consumption rate among Indonesian children is still below the recommended ideal level. One contributing factor is the lack of educational media that is engaging, communicative, and suited to the characteristics of children in this age group. This study aims to design a visual communication medium in the form of an interactive and educational children's storybook to convey information about the benefits of fish consumption in a fun and easily understandable way. The methods used in this research include literature review on visual design and children's education, observation of similar existing educational media, and interviews with experts in visual communication design and child literacy. The expected outcome of this research is the creation of an alternative educational medium that can enhance children's understanding and interest in fish consumption through a visual storytelling approach.
