Study of malaria TBV candidate Pfs230D1 with various vaccine adjuvants

A leading malaria transmission-blocking vaccine candidate, Pfs230D1-EPA, demonstrated field efficacy to reduce mosquito infections and is poised for combination with the WHO-approved R21/Matrix-M vaccine to generate a multi-stage vaccine. In support of Pfs230D1 development, we conducted a series of preclinical studies in rhesus monkeys, formulating conjugated Pfs230D1 with various adjuvants (Alhydrogel, GLA-LSQ, GLA-SE, and AS01), evaluating immunological responses, profiling the transcriptome, assessing the role of antibodies and complement, and identifying subcellular localization.
