VPRS 15379 Topic Files (Education History Unit)

This series consists of files containing topics mainly related to State education history in Victoria created, received or maintained by the Education History Unit. Many of the files document the Unit's activities in organising aspects of the centenary history of the Education Department (1972) and subsequent ceremonial events. The series includes also Minutes, Committee Minutes and diary of the State Education History Committee 1967-1973 in which Unit staff participated.Individual files include documentation relating to the various ceremonial events, publications produced by the Unit and published articles or copies of Departmental records collected by the Unit about particular topics. (Some of the copies of Department records found in these files date back to around 1868.) Files may also contain correspondence to and from the Unit from individuals or the Department.It would appear that the first files in this series were created in 1968 as part of the initial preparations for the Centenary History. The last files appear to have been created in 1987 although papers were added to some files until 2004.
