Survey on Relocation Motives 2008

This dataset is derived from the "Survey on Relocation Motives 2008", a survey conducted by Statistics Norway from the 21st of January to the 16th of June 2008. The survey was commissioned by the Norwegian Institute of Urban and Regional Research (NIBR).

Though there exists substantial knowledge about people that have either relocated or remained living in different types of regions, one knows little of what causes people to move or stay. This survey seeks to elucidate this very topic, by examining why people live where they live, and how many people that actually live where they want to live. The survey aims to answer the following questions: Why do people live where they grew up? Why do people relocate from the places where they grew up? And why do people move back to where they grew up, after living someplace else?
