Experimental Investigation on the Thermo-Mechanical Properties of Wood Concerning Bending with Thermal Creep Tests

The test report from the Technical University of Munich (TUM) investigates the thermo-mechanical properties of wood under bending as part of a research project on wood behaviour in fire conditions, in collaboration with ETH Zurich and TALTEC University, aiming to revise design methods in EN 1995-1-2. This test report covers the thermal creep experiments, which mainly used a thermal exposure of 240 °C air temperature. Different load levels, wood moisture values and cooling effects were investigated. The results indicate that higher wood moisture and load levels lead to a faster failure.
