<p data-end="490" data-start="195">This dataset contains two- (2D) and three-dimensional (3D) finite element models (FEM) developed in PLAXIS to evaluate the dynamic response of Gatun Dam under both harmonic and seismic loading conditions. It includes a total of 35 models: 21 two-dimensional and 14 three-dimensional.</p>
<p data-end="490" data-start="195">The 3D models cover the East and West Embankments, with a focus on the Chagres River paleochannels. The 2D models correspond to selected cross-sections aligned with the 3D models of both embankments.</p>
<p data-end="934" data-start="744">Harmonic loading simulations include three directional input scenarios for the 3D models (transverse, longitudinal, and bidirectional), while the 2D models are limited to transverse loading.</p>
<p data-end="1186" data-start="936">Seismic response models were developed using records from the 1989 Loma Prieta and 1985 Michoac&aacute;n earthquakes. Both ground motions were scaled and applied following the Panama Canal Authority&rsquo;s Seismic Evaluation Criteria for critical infrastructure.</p>
