UK Insolvency Notice Volumes 2019-2026

Counts of insolvency notices published in The Gazette, the UK's official public record, retrieved from its public API. The finding Corporate and personal insolvency have moved in opposite directions. Corporate notice volumes rose 31% between 2019 and their 2024 peak of 96,315, then fell back in 2025. Personal notice volumes fell 42% over the same period, from 30,000 in 2019 to 17,254 in 2025. Important: notices are not insolvencies One insolvency generates several notices - appointment of an administrator, notice to creditors, notice of a meeting, final notice on dissolution. These figures measure the volume of insolvency proceedings, not the number of companies or individuals becoming insolvent. They should not be compared directly against Insolvency Service company counts, which measure something different. A full breakdown is not published here because The Gazette's documented list of valid authority names is missing from their repository, and an unrecognised name returns zero rather than an error - indistinguishable from a genuine zero.
