In May 2021 we conducted smoldering emissions experiments at Oregon State University as part of "Ignition, Propagation, and Emission of Smoldering Combustion: Experimental Analysis and Physics Based Modeling", SERDP Project RC-2651. Duff cores were ignited and allowed to smolder. Emissions samples were collected as the burned area progressed, and subsequently analyzed by gas chromatography for carbon gases and particulates. The four Excel spreadsheets in this set are:
Sample log for sampling locations on duff cores and filter sampling times
Gas chromatography peak areas, calculation of ppm for 10 experiment burns, filter loading weights and sampling times
Results of emissions, ppm of carbon species, total carbon, emission factors, rate of carbon emission for burns 1-8
Results of emissions, ppm of carbon species, total carbon, emission factors, rate of carbon emission for burns 9-10
