革兰氏阴性杆菌，0.5-0.8×1.5-3.0µm，单个，成对或成短链。无芽孢，以极生的单鞭毛运动。在合适的培养基中产生可扩散的荧光色素和可溶性的吩嗪色素，脓青素，都不产生这二种色素的菌株很罕见。专性好氧，在硝酸盐培养基中除外。最适培养温度约为37℃。41℃生长而4℃不生长。能从土壤和水中分离到。通常从临床样本（伤口、烧伤和尿路感染）中分离。是院内呼吸道感染的首要病因。来源于黑龙江省科学院应用微生
