Iron addition experiments were conducted across a mesoscale eddy dipole in the North Pacific Subtropical Gyre in 2017, as part of a series of analyses to test the hypothesis that cyclonic and anticyclonic eddies perturb nutrient and light regimes in qualitatively distinct manners. These samples are 16S ribosomal RNA gene amplicons collected from experimental incubations on in situ arrays after 64 hours, including triplicate unamended control and +Fe samples, from 100 m depth and the deep chlorophyll maximum, and from experiments in each eddy polarity.
