Potential current and restorable habitat suitability for selected species in the region of the Neusiedler lake

Provided are model-based estimates of habitat suitability for selected indicator species in the region of Neusiedler Lake, covering parts of Austria and Hungary. Indicator species were selected based on a combination of data availability (from multiple sources) and ecosystem representation (Forest, grassland, wetland,...).Methodologically the species distribution estimates were made using the ibis.iSDM R-package (Jung, 2023), projected upon geospatial embeddings from Sentinel 1 and 2 earth observation data. Potentially restorable estimates were assessed by the distribution of potentially restorable habitat in the landscape and limited to reachable areas based on a stochastic dispersal simulator part of the ibis.SPOP module (Jung, In prep).It should be noted that some of the predictions might still require further corrections (see also Notes below). The projections were made as part of the Biodiversa+ funded INSPIRE project (https://www.inspire-biodiversa.com/) and used for an integrated spatial planning exercise.
