Whole genome sequencing of Streptococcus pneumoniae SSISP36A (SSISP 36/2). Streptococcus pneumoniae strain:SSISP 36/2

We describe and characterize the newly discovered capsule type, 36B, and for the first time elucidate the biochemical structure of the already known serotype 36, renamed 36A, along with assigning biosynthetic roles of genes in the capsule biosynthetic (cps) locus. SSISP 36/2 represents a well-characterized serotype 36A strain which was obtained from Statens Serum Institut, Copenhagen, Denmark.
