Drosera rotundifolia genome and transcriptome

The carnivorous plant Drosera rotundifolia captures prey using the tentacles on its leaves. Since Darwin's time, this process has been studied, and it is known that stimuli at the tips of the tentacles induce movement at the base via information transmission using action potentials. However, the foundation for molecular biological analysis of this mechanism has not been established. This project aims to elucidate the molecular basis of stimulus reception and action potentials in plants by obtaining the genome and tissue-specific transcriptome of Drosera rotundifolia, thereby enabling molecular biological analyses.
