Research Hypothesis and Analytical Framework
This study hypothesises that Evé Kornu (Inseparable Spirits) (dir. Magdalene Kwashie, 2017) functions as an epistemic performance in which Indigenous Ewe cosmology is activated through cinematic form. Drawing on ritual-centred formal analysis, phenomenology, and Indigenous hermeneutics, the study analyses how mise-en-scène, sound, performance, editing, and cinematography enable the film to perform spiritual, moral, and ancestral knowledge rather than merely depict it.
