资源简介:
Pollen, macrofloral, botanic, and protein residue samples were examined from site
42WS2227 in southwest Utah, representing a large, intensively looted Anasazi Pueblo with an
estimated Pueblo II occupation. Samples were submitted from two separate testing areas.
Samples from Test Area #1 (Feature 4) on the west side of the road were associated with an
adobe floor. Test Area #2 (Feature 9) in a disturbed/vandalized area east of the road contained
an adobe-floored structure, a possible structure below the adobe-floored structure, and a
human burial believed to have intruded through both of the structure features. Pollen and
macrofloral analyses will be used to provide information concerning plant resources available to
and utilized by the various occupants of this site, as well as items included as grave goods.
Tools from the burial pit will be analyzed for the presence of protein residues resulting from use
of these tools for processing/hunting animal resources.
