Data Sources for Real-Time Sensing of Roadway Flood Conditions in Houston, Texas

Real-time sensing of roadway conditions during flooding is essential for safer mobility and effective emergency response. The OpenSafe Fusion framework, developed at Rice University, demonstrated that an automated workflow capable of collecting, processing, and fusing existing real-time public data on flooding and road conditions can significantly improve a community’s ability to detect roadway flooding, mitigate situational awareness data inequities, and enhance flood situational awareness to support safer roadway mobility and emergency response. This repository contains data collected during the development of the OpenSafe Fusion framework, focusing on Houston during Hurricane Harvey in 2017. All collected data that can be shared is included. Additionally, instructions are provided for obtaining data directly from the original data owners for data that cannot be shared.
