Genomic analysis of the vanA-plasmid transmission among vancomycin-resistant Enterococcus in a nosocomial outbreak in Osaka, Japan

We aimed to analyze the structure and characteristics of the vanA-plasmid from vancomycin-resistant Enterococcus (VRE) in a nosocomial outbreak in Osaka, Japan. This was a polyclonal outbreak in non-endemic setting. Genomic analysis revealed that the vanA-plasmid had been transmitted between VRE during the outbreak.
