Transcriptional response of Caenorhabditis elegans when exposed to S. flexneri. Caenorhabditis elegans strain:N2 Bristol

In recent years, researchers have begun to use the roundworm Caenorhabditis elegans as a potential animal model to study the pathogenesis of Shigella . The aim of this project is to further develop this C. elegans model by understanding the major pathways and cellular characteristics affected to cause death in the Shigella-exposed worms using RNA-sequencing. We consider that this knowledge will be extremely useful to researchers dedicated to the development of this new in vivo model to study bacterial pathogenesis.
