The Book-Crossing Dataset consists of ratings from 278,858 users of the Book-Crossing community, containing 1,149,780 rating records for approximately 271,379 books, with a total of 3 categories.

BX-Users contains user information, where user IDs have been anonymized and mapped to integers. All fields contain NULL values except for the section containing demographic data.

BX-Books includes the ISBN identifier of each book, alongside content-based metadata such as author, publication year, and publisher. For works with multiple authors, only the first author is provided. The dataset also provides links to cover image URLs, as well as direct links to the Amazon website.

BX-Book-Ratings contains book rating information, where ratings are explicitly expressed on a scale of 1 to 10, or denoted as 0.

This dataset was released by the University of Freiburg, Germany, in 2005. The associated research paper is titled *Improving Recommendation Lists Through Topic Diversification*.
