This dataset contains a subset of electrified cloud model simluation times at 125 m grid spacing. Timesteps are selections from two high-resolution COMMAS simulations of West Texas storms. Each COMMAS simulation includes the electrification and branched lightning scheme of Mansell et al. (2010). Each storm includes a five minute period with 30 second time resoution. The two timesteps for this dataset are selected from this five minute time period. This is noted in the file name with _30s postfix to the time.
The first storm, 2015-07-10, is a multicell storm near Ropesville, TX. The time step provided here is 2430s into the simulated storm.
The second storm, 2016-05-22, is a supercell storm near Slaton, TX. The time step provided 9060s into the simulated storm.
The simulations and associated observations of the same cases are detailed in Brothers et al. (2018) and Brothers (2017). Observational data are available at Bruning et al. (2021a, b).
