Structural modulation of gut microbiota during alleviation of allergic rhinitis with a Chinese herbal formula

The gut microbiota is hypothesized to have a critical role in allergic disease, including allergic rhinitis (AR). A mixed herbal formula, Xiao-Qing-Long-Decoction (XQLD) is used to treat AR in Traditional Chinese Medicine. To find out whether XQLD modulates the composition of the gut microbiota as well as the long-term efficacy and safety of the XQLD for the treatment of AR, 33 AR patients were allocated to receive XQLD for 10 weeks in a case series study.
