Trichophyton indotineae Genome sequencing and assembly. Trichophyton mentagrophytes

Trichophyton mentagrophytes is a zoonotic agent of dermatophytosis. The variations seen among the strains and genotypes, and associated differences in geographical distribution, host specificity, virulence and anti-fungal susceptibility necessitate a detailed analysis of the genomic structure of T. mentagrophytes isolates. Trichophyton indotineae, earlier classified as Trichophyton mentagrophytes ITS genotype VIII, is now considered a separate species. In this study, whole genome sequencing of two canine isolates of T. indotineae was performed to unravel the genomic determinants associated with virulence, anti-fungal susceptibility and host distribution.
