Radiation loss caused by impurities in tokamak plasmas, especially of those metal impurities, is one of the crucial factors restricting the further improvement of plasma performance. [Purpose] This study aims at the atomic spectroscopy of metal impurities on fusion reactors with a conceptual design of a compact impurity spectrum research platform based on intermediate energy electron beam ion trap. [Methods] The system design scheme for a compact medium-energy impurity spectra platform (MISP) using conduct cooling low temperature superconductor was presented. Then the COMSOL simulation software was employed to design and analyze the magnetic field, and the electron beam trajectory in the electron beam ion trap (EBIT) of MISP. The magnetic field calculation, inner electrode design, spectrometer design and other auxiliary system design of the electron beam ion trap were carried out. [Results] Simulation results show that uniform magnetic field intensity of 1.0 T in the center of EBIT drift tube can be achieved with appropriate design parameters, and the electron beam can be constrained in the drift tube. [Conclusions] This concept design can provide a reference for further engineering design.
