Tb4Co3 crystallizes in the trigonal P-3 space group. The structure is three-dimensional. there are two inequivalent Tb sites. In the first Tb site, Tb is bonded in a 7-coordinate geometry to seven Co atoms. There are a spread of Tb–Co bond distances ranging from 2.87–3.02 Å. In the second Tb site, Tb is bonded in a 4-coordinate geometry to four Co atoms. There are a spread of Tb–Co bond distances ranging from 2.79–3.07 Å. There are three inequivalent Co sites. In the first Co site, Co is bonded in a 9-coordinate geometry to six equivalent Tb and three equivalent Co atoms. All Co–Co bond lengths are 2.34 Å. In the second Co site, Co is bonded in a 9-coordinate geometry to eight Tb and one Co atom. In the third Co site, Co is bonded in a 6-coordinate geometry to six equivalent Tb atoms.
