Provided is a method for producing softwood-derived pulp fibers for paper， the method being capable of reducing the propensity for the product surface to become rough， and capable of reducing the propensity for the tensile strength to be reduced. This production method is for producing softwood-derived pulp fibers for paper， the method comprising a beating step (S31) in which material pulp fibers derived from softwood are beaten in the presence of a liquid including water， and an ozone treatment step (S33) in which the material pulp fibers that have been beaten are treated with ozone water.
