SUSTAINABILITY OF CENTRAL ASIAN INITIATIVES WITHIN THE FRAMEWORK OF THE ORGANIZATION OF TURKIC STATES
收藏资源简介:
The Organization of Turkic States has emerged as a central platform for fostering political dialogue, economic cooperation, and sustainable development among Central Asian member states. Over the past decade, the region has pursued initiatives in transport connectivity, trade facilitation, energy cooperation, digital transformation, education, and cultural diplomacy to support long-term stability and inclusive growth. Notable projects, such as the Trans-Caspian International Transport Route, the creation of multimodal logistics corridors, and the adoption of harmonized customs procedures, have contributed to reducing trade costs and enhancing regional resilience. In the energy sector, joint efforts in renewable energy, energy efficiency, and the green transition are consistent with the global Sustainable Development Goals and promote environmental sustainability. The OTS’s institutional mechanisms, including regular summits, sectoral councils, and dedicated funds, have strengthened policy coordination and implementation capacity. Simultaneously, Central Asian states promote people-to-people connectivity through academic mobility, joint research, and cultural exchanges, thereby reinforcing social cohesion and a shared Turkic identity. Despite these achievements, challenges remain, such as economic disparities, infrastructure gaps, and differing national development priorities. Nevertheless, the increasing leadership of Uzbekistan and other Central Asian countries in initiating regional projects, enhancing the investment climate, and supporting multilateral dialogue indicates the growing sustainability of OTS-led cooperation. Overall, the integration of economic, political, social, and environmental dimensions within the OTS framework suggests that Central Asian initiatives are evolving from short-term coordination to a more institutionalized and sustainable model of regional integration.
