Porcine skeletal muscle RNA sequencing

A total of 129 Iberian x Duroc crossbred pigs were raised under standard production conditions, fed at will and drinking water. Animals were slaughtered in a local slaughterhouse at 6 months of age and samples of longissimus dorsi skeletal muscle were collected, immediately snap frozen in liquid nitrogen, and stored at -80C until analysis. RNA was extracted and sequenced (RNA-Seq) using Illumina HiSeq 3000/4000 instrument. Finally, the aim of the work was to study the global changes in the pig muscle transcriptome associated with variation in fatty acid composition.
