资源简介:
This dataset contains the primary anonymized clinical, nutritional, and surgical data collected for the PhD thesis "Role of Arginine in Oral Nutritional Supplementation for the Prevention or Reduction of Complications Following Colorectal Surgery in Malnourished or At-Risk Patients within a Multimodal Rehabilitation Unit" (University of Granada, Spain). The main objective of the study was to evaluate whether an arginine-enriched oral nutritional supplement (ONS) provides additional clinical benefits compared to a standard hypercaloric/hyperproteic ONS in malnourished or at-risk patients undergoing elective colorectal cancer surgery within an Enhanced Recovery After Surgery (ERAS) / Multimodal Prehabilitation program.Study Design & SettingPopulation: Patients diagnosed with colorectal cancer, classified as malnourished or at nutritional risk, scheduled for elective surgery.Intervention: Preoperative and postoperative administration of an arginine-enriched immunonutrition formula (Atempero®) versus a standard ONS formula.Context: All patients were managed under a standardized Multimodal Rehabilitation protocol.Dataset Content (Key Variables) The dataset is structured to evaluate the patient's journey from preoperative assessment to postoperative recovery, including:Baseline Demographics & Clinical Profile: Age, sex, comorbidities, and tumor staging.Nutritional Assessment: Screening scores (MUST, MNA), formal diagnosis of malnutrition using GLIM criteria, and biochemical markers (e.g., albumin, prealbumin, CRP).Body Composition & Functional Status: Bioelectrical impedance analysis (BIA) including Phase Angle, dynamometry, and functional capacity metrics.Surgical Outcomes: Type of surgical approach, length of hospital stay (LOS), readmission rates, and postoperative complications categorized by severity.Ethical Considerations & Data Privacy In strict compliance with Open Science directives, the FAIR principles (Findable, Accessible, Interoperable, and Reusable), and the European General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) / Spanish LOPDGDD 3/2018, this dataset has been rigorously anonymized. All direct personal identifiers have been removed to guarantee patient confidentiality.Funding & Acknowledgements This research was financially supported by Vegenat Healthcare S.L., with the administrative management conducted by the Biomedical Research Institute of Cádiz (INiBICA). The funding entity had no role in the study design, data collection, statistical analysis, interpretation of the findings, or manuscript/thesis writing.Related PublicationAuthor: David Sánchez RelínqueInstitution: University of Granada (UGR), Spain.
