VPRS 16842 Almoner's Registers, Medical Social Work Registers of Handicapped Children

These registers record cases referred to the Almoner. The Almoner's were subsequently named Medical Social Workers in 1962. This register was created to register patient history files located in VPRS 16844.Information includes the patient's number (annual single number sequences) and name (entries arranged in chronological order), whether a new patient and whether from the country or metropolitan area, (or interstate), type of medical condition and a number of columns indicating what support action given and which government agencies notified. From unit 5 the support and agencies notified is not recorded, but the name of the Social Worker attending is. Folios were numbered.Prior to transfer to Public Record Office Victoria, the records in this series were maintained as part of the Royal Children's Hospital (RCH) Archives. They were part of RCH accession number 2000/008.
