Sitka Herring Genetics Fin Clips, 2019-2020

Dorsal fin clips were collected from spawning herring in the Sitka area in 2019 and 2020. Approximately 50-100 spawning herring were collected via gillnet at a given site. Total length, sex, and maturity data were collected from each fish, along with a dorsal fin clip. Each fin clip was placed in 100% ethanol and given a unique ID. One exception is the Elovoi Island site, where weather did not allow for collection of spawning herring. Instead, eggs were collected, hatched and then larval herring were collected in ethanol. Date of collection, site name, latitude, and longitude were collected. When time, resources, and weather allowed, temperature and salinity data were collected. All of these data are found in the .csv file.
