This database includes information for 203 pairs of sister species of birds found in three tropical montane regions--the Himalayas, the Neotropics, and New Guinea. The pertinent data for each sister species pair include: 1) genetic distance, calculated using mitochondrial DNA, 2) a binary measure of geographical overlap (sympatry/allopatry), and 3) elevational divergence, measured from 0 (no elevational overlap) to 1 (complete elevational overlap).
