This is monthly-mean surface temperature and precipitation output from the GISS ModelE2.2 global climate model for two 5-member ensembles of experiments representing the 1257 AD Mt. Samalas eruption (as a 120 Tg SO2 tropical summer eruption). These eruption experiments were originally made for the study McGraw et al., JCLI 2024 (link). Each file contains 60 times, being 5 simulated years x 12 months/year. The two ensembles represent identical eruption mass but with peak global mean aerosol effective radius peaking at 0.55 and 1.04um in "GISS A" and "GISS B", respectively, leading to very different volcanic impact strengths. Also included is the 270 year control simulation from which eruption cases were branched off of at 5 distinct times (denoted as 'h', 'i' ,'j', 'k' and 'l'). These are, respectively, years 112, 122, 133, 145, 155 of the control run (considering the first included year in the file as year 1). The control simulation was originally made for DallaSanta & Polvani, 2022 (link).
